1. Who we are

PuffyWings Studio (“we”, “us”) is the name under which Pascal Khazzoum, an independent developer based in the United Arab Emirates, publishes the PuffyWings game for iPhone and this website, puffywingsstudio.com. Pascal Khazzoum is responsible for the data practices described here. You can reach us at puffywingsstudio@gmail.com.

2. What the app collects and why

Game progress, stored on your iPhone

Your scores, streaks, unlocked worlds, Sparkle wallet, equipped bird and trail, and settings (music, sound effects, haptics, reminders) are saved on your device. We do not receive this data.

iCloud sync

If you are signed in to iCloud, PuffyWings keeps a small set of game data in sync across your devices using Apple’s iCloud Key-Value Storage: your main-game best score and best streak, settings, simple game flags, the equipped bird, and the free Sage unlock. Challenge Mode bests and your Sparkle wallet stay on the device. This data is stored by Apple in your iCloud account and we cannot access it. Purchases are never synced this way; they come back through Restore Purchases.

Game Center (optional)

If you sign in to Apple Game Center, your scores and achievements are sent to Apple so they can appear on leaderboards. Your Game Center nickname may be visible to other players, depending on your Game Center settings. Apple’s privacy policy applies.

Advertising (Google AdMob)

PuffyWings is free and supported by ads: one banner on the game-over screen, and an optional video you can watch to continue a run. Ads are provided by Google AdMob, which may collect:

• Your device’s advertising identifier (IDFA), only if you allow tracking when iOS asks
• Advertising data, such as the ads you see and interact with
• Product interaction data, such as ad taps
• Coarse location derived from your IP address (country or city level, never precise GPS)
• Performance, crash, and other diagnostic data about ad delivery

Google uses this data to deliver and measure ads, prevent fraud, and, where you have allowed it, show personalized ads. If you do not allow tracking, ads cannot use your advertising identifier and are generally less personalized. Where consent is required and you decline, Google shows non-personalized ads. Analytics (Google Analytics for Firebase)

To learn which worlds are too hard, which features players enjoy, and where the game can improve, PuffyWings records pseudonymous gameplay events (tied to a random ID, never to your name or account), for example:

• Runs started and ended, the mode played, the world reached, pillars cleared, and how the run ended
• Power-ups and Sparkles collected, continues used, and screens opened
• Shop views, items equipped, and purchases completed or failed (product and price, never payment details)
• Ad impressions and the ad revenue they generate
• Broad player traits such as “Premium: yes or no”, number of birds owned, and score ranges

Firebase also collects standard technical information: a random app-instance ID created on install, device model, iOS and app version, language, approximate country or region, and session timing. This data is not linked to your identity and never used for advertising or tracking: the app uses the version of Firebase Analytics that does not access the advertising identifier, and all advertising-related consent signals are set to “denied”. In the EEA, UK, and Switzerland, analytics identifiers are only stored if you consent; otherwise Firebase sends only limited signals without identifiers. Elsewhere, analytics is on by default and the app has no separate analytics switch; deleting the app resets its random ID.

Purchases

In-app purchases are processed entirely by Apple. We never see your name, payment method, or billing details. The App Store tells the app which items you own so we can unlock them.

Reminders

If you turn on Reminders, the game schedules gentle local notifications on your iPhone (for example, a day after you last played). They are created on your device; there is no server and no push token. Turn them off anytime in the game’s Settings or in iOS Settings.

Sharing your score

The Share button opens the standard iOS share sheet. You choose what to share and with whom; we do not receive it.

When you email us

If you contact support, we receive your email address and whatever you include in your message. We use it only to help you. Our inbox is hosted by Google (Gmail).

3. Tracking and your choices

• Allow or deny tracking. iOS asks whether PuffyWings may track you before ads can use your advertising identifier. You can change this anytime in iOS Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking.
• Consent in the EEA, UK, and Switzerland. You will see Google’s consent form for ads and analytics. Change your choices anytime in the game under Settings > Privacy Options.
• US state privacy choices. Where a US state law gives you the right to opt out of targeted advertising, the same Settings > Privacy Options screen lets you do that.
• Remove banner ads. Premium removes the game-over banner. Continue videos only play if you choose to watch one.
• Reminders. Toggle them in the game’s Settings or in iOS Settings > Notifications > PuffyWings.
• Game Center. Optional. Sign out in iOS Settings > Game Center.
• Delete local data. Deleting the app removes the data stored on your iPhone. iCloud-synced bests may return if you reinstall while signed in to the same iCloud account.

4. What we never collect

No account, name, email address (unless you email us), phone number, contacts, photos, microphone or camera access, precise location, health data, or browsing history. We do not sell your personal information.

5. Who processes data

We only work with providers whose own privacy commitments give your data the same or equal protection as this policy. These providers may process data in the United States and other countries. Where data leaves the EEA, UK, or Switzerland, they rely on recognized safeguards such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses or the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.

Legal bases (EEA, UK, Switzerland): your consent for personalized ads and for storing analytics identifiers; our legitimate interest in keeping the game working, secure, and improving; and the performance of a contract when you make a purchase.

Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR, UK GDPR, or California and other US state laws), you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or port your personal data, to object to or restrict processing, to withdraw consent at any time, and to complain to your local data protection authority. We will never treat you differently for exercising these rights.

To make a request, email puffywingsstudio@gmail.com. Because we do not hold accounts and analytics is only tied to a random ID, we usually cannot match analytics or ad data to a specific person; it is deleted on the schedules above. For data held by Google, you can also use Google’s own tools.

California residents: we do not sell personal information. If you allow tracking, AdMob may use your advertising identifier for personalized ads, which California law can treat as “sharing”. You can opt out at any time by turning tracking off in iOS Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking.

8. Children

PuffyWings is made for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Ads in the game are limited to Google’s PG content rating or lower. If you are a parent and believe your child has shared personal information with us, email us and we will help remove it. Parents can manage purchases with Screen Time and Ask to Buy.

9. This website

puffywingsstudio.com uses no cookies, no analytics, and no advertising trackers. Fonts and images are served from our own site. Our host, Netlify, processes standard server logs (such as IP address, browser type, and the page requested) to deliver the site and keep it secure. The playable demo on the home page saves your best demo score in your own browser’s local storage; it never leaves your device. Links to the App Store take you to Apple, where Apple’s privacy policy applies.
