Terms and house rules

Plain words about playing Boxdini: who can play, how we treat each other in online games, and how purchases work.

Last updated: October 8, 2026

The short version. Boxdini is a game for friends, so be a good sport. You need to be 13 or over. In online games, use a nickname, not your real name. Keep your nickname and the way you play friendly: no hate, harassment, threats, sexual content, personal information, or pretending to be someone else. Anyone can report a player or a nickname, and we may remove content, end a room, or block an anonymous ID. Packs are one-time purchases through Apple or Google, and packs you bought stay yours. Online features can change or pause. Before your first online game, the app asks you to accept these terms once, and that acceptance refers to this page. Nothing here takes away rights the law gives you.

1. Who we are and what this covers

Boxdini is a group guessing game from PuffyWings Studio (“we”, “us”), the name under which Pascal Khazzoum, an independent developer based in the United Arab Emirates, publishes games. Boxdini is coming soon to iPhone and Android. You can reach us at puffywingsstudio@gmail.com.

These terms are about playing Boxdini. They are not about our other game, PuffyWings. They go together with the Boxdini Privacy Policy, which explains what data the game handles.

The two online ways to play, Everyone on their own phone (Live) and Send a challenge (Challenge), need your agreement. Before your first online game, the app asks you to accept these terms once. That acceptance in the app refers to this page. If you do not accept, you cannot start or join an online game.

2. Who can play

Boxdini is for people aged 13 and over. It is not made for children under 13.

If you are under 18, you may use Boxdini only with a parent’s or guardian’s OK where the law in your country requires one. Parents can manage purchases with Apple’s Screen Time and Ask to Buy, or with Google Play’s parental controls. If a young person in your family plays online, please read the house rules in section 4 together.

If we learn that a player is under 13, we may block their anonymous ID from the online modes.

3. Using the app

You may install and use Boxdini on your own devices for personal, non-commercial use: your own fun, with your friends and family. This is permission to use the app, not a sale of it. Sharing your own results, such as the Daily Box result card, is welcome.

Please do not:

  • sell, rent, or host Boxdini or its boxes and hints, or use them to make money;
  • take Boxdini apart, copy its code, or reverse engineer it, except where the law lets you even though a contract says no;
  • cheat in the online modes, for example by using tools, edits, or extra identities to learn answers, change scores, or beat timers;
  • disrupt rooms, for example by flooding a room, by trying to get into rooms you were not invited to, or by overloading or attacking our online service;
  • use Boxdini to break the law or to harm other people.

The terms of the App Store and Google Play also apply to your download.

4. House rules for online games

These rules cover everything other players can see from you in Live and Challenge: your nickname and how you behave. Playing together should be fun for everyone, including people you have never met.

Keep a nickname a nickname

When you play online, Boxdini gives you a made-up nickname, like “Quick Fox”. You can change it. It is a nickname, not your real name. Please keep it that way. Do not use someone else’s name, and do not use a nickname to carry a message, an advert, or a link.

What is not allowed

In a nickname and in how you act, please do not:

  • Be hateful. No insults or attacks on people for who they are, such as their race, religion, gender, sexuality, disability, or where they come from.
  • Harass or threaten. No bullying, no picking on one player, and nothing meant to frighten anyone.
  • Post sexual content. Boxdini is for players aged 13 and over, and sexual words or pictures do not belong in it.
  • Share personal information. Do not share your own or anyone else’s real name, address, phone number, email address, school, or social media handles.
  • Impersonate. Do not pretend to be another player, a real person, or the studio.

Other players never see what you type as an answer. Nicknames go through a word filter on your phone, before yours is sent and again before another player’s is shown. The filter will not catch everything, so these rules apply whether or not it does. If you are unsure, ask yourself whether you would say it to a friend across the table.

5. Reporting and removal

  • Report. In Live and Challenge, you can Report any player or any nickname shown to you.
  • Remove. The host of a live room can Remove a player from it.
  • What we may do. If someone breaks these rules, or puts other players or the service at risk, we may remove content such as a nickname, end a room, and block an anonymous ID from the online modes. Because Boxdini has no accounts, a block applies to the anonymous ID the app uses on that phone.
  • How fast. We respond to reports as quickly as we can. We are a small studio, so we cannot promise a time, and we may not always be able to tell you what we did.
  • If we got it wrong. If you think we removed something or blocked an ID by mistake, email us and we will take a second look.
  • Emergencies. Reports and email are not an emergency service. If anyone is in danger, contact your local emergency services.

What a report holds is in the Privacy Policy under What the app collects and why, and how long we keep it is under How long data is kept.

6. Purchases

Boxdini is free to download. It has six packs of 60 boxes each. Two are free and four are paid. There is no subscription and there are no ads.

PackPrice
Everyday ThingsFree
AnimalsFree
Food & Sweets$1.99, one time
On the Move$1.99, one time
Games & Party$1.99, one time
Tech & Science$1.99, one time
All four paid packs together$3.99, one time

These prices are in US dollars. The App Store or Google Play shows the price for your country before you buy, and that price is what counts. Apple or Google takes the payment. We never see your payment details.

  • Refunds. Refunds follow the rules of the store you bought from. On iPhone, you can ask at reportaproblem.apple.com. On Android, use your order history in Google Play. If you write to us about a purchase, we will help where we can.
  • One account per pack. A pack belongs to the Apple or Google account that bought it. Packs are not shared through Family Sharing.
  • Restore purchases. Use Restore on the Packs screen, or Restore purchases in Settings, to get back packs you bought with the same Apple or Google account, for example on a new phone.
  • iPhone and Android are separate. Purchases do not carry between iPhone and Android, and we cannot transfer them.
  • A host’s pack. In an online game, the pack chosen by the host (or by the person who sent the challenge) plays for everyone in that game only. It does not unlock the pack for the other players.
  • Changes. We may add packs, change prices, or offer new bundles for future purchases. Packs you have already bought stay yours. We may also correct or improve boxes and hints in a pack.

7. Online features may change or pause

Live and Challenge run on an online service. It costs time and money to run, and it can have problems. So:

  • We can switch an online mode off or pause it from our side, without an app update. We might do this for repairs, for safety, or when something goes wrong.
  • We can set a minimum app version for each online mode. If your app is older, you need to update it before you can play that mode online.
  • Rooms and challenges do not last. A challenge is open for 7 days, and rooms and challenges are deleted automatically (see How long data is kept). Please do not use them to keep anything.
  • You can delete your online data yourself with Delete my online data in the app’s Settings. The Privacy Policy explains what that does.

We will try to give notice when we can, but we may not always be able to. The one phone game and the Daily Box do not need the online service, and packs you have bought stay yours while an online mode is paused.

8. Content and licenses

Boxdini, including its boxes, its hints, and the drawings made for it, belongs to PuffyWings Studio, except for the third-party parts listed below. These terms give you permission to use Boxdini. They do not give you ownership of any part of it.

Pictures

The item pictures are Microsoft Fluent Emoji 3D, which Microsoft shares under the MIT license, together with drawings made for Boxdini.

Fonts

The text in the app uses two fonts, Bricolage Grotesque and Instrument Sans. Both are under the SIL Open Font License.

The license texts, together with those of the other open source software inside the app, are in the app under Settings > About > Licenses.

What you send us

If you use Suggest this answer, you send us the exact text you typed. You agree that we may use that text, free of charge, to improve Boxdini’s answer lists. It carries no name and no device ID.

9. No warranty and limits of liability

We take care over every box and hint. Even so, Boxdini is made by a small independent studio and can have mistakes: a hint that is wrong, an answer the app does not accept, or a room that stops. If you find one, please tell us.

Boxdini is provided “as is” and “as available”. We do not promise that it will always work, always be online, or be free of mistakes.

Where the law allows, we are not responsible for losses that are indirect or that nobody could reasonably have seen coming, such as a lost Daily Box streak or lost settings. We are also not responsible for what other players type or do, which is why reporting exists, or for services run by Apple, Google, or others, which you use under their own terms. For anything else connected with Boxdini, our total responsibility to you is limited to the amount you paid for Boxdini in the 12 months before the problem arose.

Your rights stay. Nothing in these terms limits or excludes anything the law does not allow to be limited or excluded. That includes responsibility for death or personal injury caused by negligence, and for fraud. If you are a consumer, the law where you live may give you rights about apps and digital content that no contract can take away, for example if something you bought is not as described or does not work. These terms leave those rights as they are.

10. Changes to these terms

We may change these terms, for example when we add features or when a rule needs to be clearer. When we do, we update the date at the top of this page, and for significant changes we also post a notice on this site. A change applies from the date shown. If you keep playing after that, we take it that you accept the updated terms. If you do not agree, you can stop playing and delete the app. Packs you have bought stay yours.

If one part of these terms turns out not to work, the rest still applies.

11. Contact

Questions, reports, or anything in these terms you would like explained: puffywingsstudio@gmail.com. Support is by email only, and there is no form. You can also use Support in the app’s Settings, which opens an email with the app version filled in. More help is on the Boxdini support page.
